Congratulations on new mama-hood! Now that your new little one is here and your body is ever so slowly reclaiming itself again, you’re probably ready to get as far away from your maternity clothes as possible (though there is no shame in hanging on to those elastic waist pants a little while longer)! If this was your first pregnancy and you think another child is in you future, absolutely hang on to those classic pieces that you’d wear again. But everything else… well, here are some ideas of where to pass things on, Marie Kondo-style.
Donation
Find a Goodwill, Salvation Army, or better yet, a women’s shelter in your area. If you’re in the LA area, a charity like Baby2Baby is a great option. Look around in your town- you’ll be surprised what meaningful organizations would love your gently worn maternity clothes. For those items that are stained, torn, etc., find a cloth recycling bin to dispose of your clothes. We have one at our local farmer’s market and it’s the perfect way to get rid of things without feeling guilty that it will end up in a landfill somewhere.
Friends & family!
There’s a strong possibility you have a friend or family member who’s also pregnant or thinking ahead to that day. Unload your stuff on them! You could even make it a temporary thing so they can give it back when and if you have another. Just think of how environmentally-friendly you’ve become!
