By now, you’ve all seen the devastation created by tropical storm Harvey in southeast Texas, and our hearts go out to everyone affected. At times like these, it’s easy to feel completely helpless when so many people are suffering, but we wanted to share some local Houston aid organizations that could use your donations. Every little bit helps!
Houston Food Bank
The Houston Food Bank has re-opened and is accepting volunteers as well as donations. As their website states, “we’re in this for the long haul.”
Undies for Everyone
One of our favorite authors, Brene Brown, lives in Houston and is currently volunteering at one of the many sites set up to take those affected by the storm. In a recent Facebook post, she said underwear is a great need for all age groups.
Texas Diaper Bank
Additionally, diapers are a critical need for those displaced by tropical storm Harvey.
Houston Humane Society
If four legged friends are your passion, the Houston Humane Society needs your donations for re-locating and feeding the many animals displaced by the storm.
Interfaith Ministries of Houston
Serving over 4,000 seniors Meals-on-Wheels daily, this organization will be needed now and in the future.
Rebuilding Together Houston
In the long term, this organization will help in the rebuilding of Houston. Their aid goes directly to rebuilding and repairing homes to low-income elderly homeowners.
