Maurice was born with a Congenital Heart Disease, he underwent open heart surgery to correct TAPVR only hours after birth. He was transported down town to Texas Children’s hospital and on the way in the ambulance he coded twice. Once the surgery was corrected he struggled to gain weight, was on several medications and doing therapy all in hopes he would recover and we would be able to take our sweet boy home. While at the hospital we found out that he had an abnormally rapid heart rate up to 300 beats per minute and we were told he had SVT. Fast forward, in a few months we will be celebrating Maurice’s third heart anniversary and all he has accomplished. His doctors have taken him off of all the medications and he is doing great. We are incredibly proud of our Heart Warrior and how far he has come.
