Our family story has two chapters. One of vintage and one more recent, but both important.
A recent event with our grandson brought us back to a time with our niece. Sophia was born such a beautiful girl. We did not know of her heart defect until after birth. Her diagnosis was Truncus Arteriosis. She had surgery at a month old. Her surgery results led to devastation to her immediate and extended family.
Harrison’s parents had just made a career move to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Shortly after the move, Harrison was diagnosed at his twenty-week ultrasound, with Transposition of the Great Arteries. The medical team was set and shortly after he was born, he underwent a procedure to open an oxygen airway and then surgery to reposition the arteries of his heart. His outcome has brought us happiness.
We’ve learned to love and to trust through each of these trials and thank God for the many blessings He’s bestowed upon our family.
