After years of infertility and 3 losses, we finally conceived Theodore. Our rainbow baby. I developed preeclampsia and delivered at 34w he was in the NICU growing and feeding section and having trouble staying awake for feeds after a week he seemed to be more tired and then his breath became labored. They ordered an Echocardiogram and we were given the news he had Coarctation of the aorta as well as some other “unique” features on the left side of the heart. His diagnosis is Shone’s Complex a rare CHD. Theodore had his first surgery at 19days old and 4lbs. A few weeks later the same issues with breathing were happening and we were told he needed another surgery and was transported to Levine Children’s and had his 2nd Heart surgery. After 75days we came home on Father’s Day! He is closely monitored by his cardiologist and has his 3rd heart surgery this October at 18-month-old and got to come home just 3 days after. CHD has changed our life’s and we hope to spread awareness and love!
